Assemblyman Tom O’Mara (R,I,C-Big Flats) is encouraging area sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts to attend the Assembly Republican Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day in the Well of the Legislative Office Building on January 12, 2010 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The event will celebrate the state’s outdoor sports and recreation traditions, which have a significant impact on the local economy and tourism industry and will highlight the Assembly Republican Conference’s efforts to protect New Yorkers’ Second Amendment rights.
“As a lawmaker, angler, and as someone who enjoys the outdoors in all seasons, I believe it is important to hold an event that celebrates the state’s outdoor sports and recreation industries,” said O’Mara. “I am hopeful that the event will show how important these industries are for the state’s economy and the urgent need to protect them and New Yorkers’ Second Amendment rights.”
State and national advocates of sportsman and outdoor activities who will be in attendance include Wayne LaPierre, CEO & Executive Vice President, National Rifle Association; Tom King, President, NYS Rifle and Pistol Association; Ken Mathison, President, SCOPE; Larry Rudolph, President, Safari Club International; James A. Rabbia, Plant Manager, Remington Arms.
There will also be a number of vendors at the event representing New York Bowhunters, Springville Field and Stream Club, Deer Search, Inc., Suffolk Alliance of Sportsmen, NYS Conservation Council, Whitetails Unlimited, NYS Trappers Association, Deer and Elks Association, Quality Deer Management Association, MHV Fur Harvesters, Sullivan County Longbeards, 4-H, Sporting Dog Trainers Alliance, North Country ATV Association, Capital District Fly Fishers, Greene County Federation of Sportsmen and Sportsman's Alliance for Firearms Education.
