Assemblyman Tom O’Mara (R,I,C-Big Flats) has been promoted to the position of Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore by Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,I,C-Canandaigua). As Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore, Assemblyman O’Mara will help lead the floor debate in the Assembly Chamber for the Republican Conference.
“I would like to thank Minority Leader Kolb for giving me an opportunity to serve our Conference and the people of New York state in this new capacity,” said O’Mara. “I look forward to leading the effort to cut state spending, lower taxes, and improve the state’s economic climate while fighting against Albany’s tax-and-spend policies in my new position.”
“2010 is a pivotal year in the state’s history and our Assembly Minority Conference must continue to be the conference of ideas, fiscal responsibility and the voice of the people,” said Leader Kolb. “Assemblyman Tom O’Mara is a no-nonsense lawmaker who has the knowledge and experience needed to move the Assembly Minority’s agenda forward and make the state a more affordable place to live and work.”
“New York needs to move in a new direction, one where homeowners pay lower, not higher property taxes, where businesses are encouraged to create jobs, not forced to fold up shop, and where the state’s young people find opportunities, not empty promises. This is the New York that I have and will continue to fight for as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore,” concluded O’Mara.
As Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore, Assemblyman O’Mara will now be the third highest ranking member of the Assembly Republican Conference.
