O’Mara: Power for Jobs Extension Signed into Law
Big Flats Lawmaker Argues Programs Extension will Save Jobs
Assemblyman Tom O’Mara (R,I,C-Big Flats) is pleased to announce that Governor Paterson signed into law legislation extending the Power for Jobs program. O’Mara noted that the program, which provides low-cost power to manufacturers, will save local jobs and help attract new companies to the region.
“I’m pleased the Assembly, Senate and governor were able to overcome recent obstacles to get this important job-creating legislation passed and signed into law,” said O’Mara. “However, the recent events at the state Capitol, which put this program’s future in jeopardy, clearly illustrate the need to make the Power for Jobs program permanent.”
“By making the Power for Jobs program permanent, the state can go a long way toward attracting more companies and jobs to the region by providing businesses with better and long-term energy planning,” concluded O’Mara.
Assemblyman O’Mara is the Ranking Republican Member on the Assembly Energy Committee.
